Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. One of the first things he did is to help his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids in a Eufala farm. The second football was that his father was the only of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. In the three years that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third time in 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine years with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. After that, he began his professional career. His first job was as an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars throughout the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as player, commanded his team throughout 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
